All writers of color are welcome to apply regardless of experience, age, or status.

Please read application directions carefully.

I found a family at VONA. I arrived in Miami not knowing what to expect, but everyone was welcoming. Seeing so many writers of color at different levels and full of passion was beautiful and reaffirming. I felt pushed, encouraged and supported.
VONA was a transformative experience. My workshop instructor paid special attention to multicultural structures in memoir, as well as preparing us for interaction with the mainstream in relation to our writing style.
